Plugged in again

For years we have read the headlines saying: “The plug has been pulled.” An institute builds something up over decades or even longer and suddenly everything has to be scrapped. Sometimes this is understandable: if there are sewing machine or stamp museums all over the Netherlands, we can certainly face to losing one of them, but there was only ever one Light Museum. And naturally it was in Eindhoven. The plug was pulled and the art had to go. Luckily, a new management emerged, which has managed to preserve the collection. They have made a selection and put together a fantastic exhibition. For those who are afraid of it all being old hat and boring, Har Hollands and Kees Bos have constructed a Lego-driven high-low-tech box of tricks. No one need fear a dry and dusty experience, as the exhibition exceeds our own expectations. The plug is back in and there is light once again in these dark times, thanks to the people who have given their support.

You can visit the exhibition Light Art Centre – City Lights from 17 August until 16 November.
