Job and I know each other from our first location on Sluisstraat. Sarah, the dog that came with the rent we never paid, either absolutely detested Job or Job was afraid of the dog. At any rate, it was quite an achievement to get to work every morning in one piece. We worked ourselves to death in the workshop while Job and Hugo sat in their office. We never really managed to make it work.
We ended up going our own ways, but still stayed in touch. Right before the opening turned out to be the perfect time to take action. But to do what? All kinds of options were considered. The simplest idea was ultimately the best one: together with Nynke, Job set out to ruin the cups I had designed for Douwe Egberts. So we now have the first edition of the ‘Ruined by Job’ cups in the shop, thanks to Job and Nynke. They’re gorgeous and relatively affordable and the box is sealed with tape that says ‘Ruined by Job’!
