I regularly try to express my tremendous appreciation of those individuals who work for me and my astonishment at all they manage to achieve. I work like a madman, but I’m not the only one, and the enormous accomplishments and inspiring results are achieved together with a fantastic team. I sometimes feel guilty since they’re all pretty much following my dreams but, since we work together so closely, it’s not always clear whose dreams these are exactly.
Next month, we’ll be once again crossing a whole bunch of milestones off the list. To name only a few: the furniture fair in Milan is coming up and, next week, the Harry van de Dierendonck and Marc Ruygrok exhibitions will be opening. We are also currently hard at work completing the first Vielgut shop and, on top of that, there’s the products-from-the-Low-Countries-supermarket in Breda.
We also have to finish up quite a few unique objects for a semi-detached villa that’s been reattached, a large number of furniture pieces for the Suitsupply shops, and a design for wine crates, including an advertising campaign for the world’s oldest Champagne house. In the meantime, we’re selling more than ever and I’m sure I’m forgetting to mention a few other things.
Oh yes, we’re also organising the second session of Upload Cinema (about sex, I believe), so that should attract a sizeable crowd. And mezzo-soprano Rosanne van Sandwijk will be arriving not too long after she’s sung up a storm in the magnificent Concertgebouw building in Amsterdam to grace us with her talent between the works of art, tables and chairs.
Am I still enjoying myself? Yes, but that’s mostly because of all the great people we work with and the fantastic results achieved.
