Our collaboration with the Van Abbe is now starting to take shape in all kinds of ways. We have a glass case on display in our gallery, containing works from the Van Abbe collection, we are giving joint lectures, attempting to coordinate and initiate exhibitions and activities and, at present, are hard at work in the Van Abbe tower making our own tower – a ‘tower block’ tens of metres high created for displaying the art of various collectors brought together for the ‘Collector show’.

This enormous block tower is an installation in itself, a work of art in its own right. A welcome bonus, you might say, as far as the art is concerned. I’m assuming that the tower itself will be impressive, but when walking towards the enormous, normally empty space of the Van Abbe tower, you are sure to be moved by the art viewed precisely at eye level in the middle of the block structure. You could even go so far as to say that this structure has introduced a new branch of sport – the building of enormous structures.
