Storioni Festival at Piet Hein Eek

3 June 2022 - 17:00 - 23:00

On Friday June 3 the musical Storioni Festival returns to Piet Hein Eek! Last year we welcomed them to our workshop. This year we are kicking off with a surprise concert of personal favourites of the musicians, in the street of Piet Hein Eek at 17.00 hrs. You can enjoy a delicious fries from Friet van Piet Hein Eek. Alternatively, you can attend only the evening concerts and dine first in the Lobby Restaurant from our menu. Make a reservation so you can be sure of a table!

“After dining, we will first hear music by English composer Frank Bridge and Hungarian-British late romanticist Emánuel Moór, then Beethoven’s heroic and revolutionary Third Symphony ‘Eroica’ here in a version for piano quartet. After an intermission in which various spaces within Piet Hein Eek’s complex can be admired, you will hear music by the Finn Sebastian Fagerlund and the wonderful sextet from Richard Strauss’ opera Capriccio. To conclude, you can listen to the Clarinettrio ‘pathétique’ by Michael Glinka, the prophet of Russian music. On the back of the trio Glinka wrote “I have come to know love only through the pain it brings. For this work, Italian pianist Saskia Giorgini takes to the grand piano, winner of the 2016 Salzburg International Mozart Competition.”

Frank Bridge – Divertimenti for wind quartet H.189, no.1-4
Emánuel Moór – Prelude for cello and piano op.123
Ludwig van Beethoven – Symphony No.3 in E-flat, op.55, ‘Eroica’ for piano quartet
Sebastian Fagerlund – ‘Transient Light’ for horn, violin, cello and piano
Richard Strauss – ‘Capriccio’ op.85 for string sextet
Mikhail Glinka – ‘Trio Pathétique’ in d flat, for clarinet, cello and piano
