Description

‘The Ark’ was made in 2005 for a group exhibition of the ‘Tilburgse School’. Artist Guido Geelen, an acquaintance of Piet Hein, is part of this group. The group has a shared vision of art and view of the world. The idea for a Noah’s Ark arises from the idea that these valuable works of art should be protected from the outside world that is in a complete state of turmoil. The Ark is given a modern twist by using the image of a shipping container for this purpose.

The entire container is supported at height, the inner walls are lined with artworks and the sculptures are on the base plate. Visitors therefore have to look inside and up to see everything. The presentation method almost makes it so that visitors have to discover the artworks.
