We are selling our dream

We are selling our dream, because we are embarking on a new one. We have lived in this house for almost twenty years. It was such a delightful and beautiful place to be, that we decided to refurbish and extend it, without it showing. In a way, the house has become even more of a one-off than it already was. We spared no expense in making sure the alterations and extensions were in keeping with the original structures. This was incredibly important in view of the fact that, when the house was built in 1951, the size of the rooms and the positioning of the house in relation to the sun had been judged perfectly. The sun rises and sets in the long garden. We lived like gods in this house, in France. Why change what is already beautiful and good? That is why we only perfected the house, and altered it to our standards in terms of comfort.

The spot can be called remarkable, with some justification: an oasis of green, on an industrial estate.  Utterly quiet and peaceful, especially during the weekend. No neighbours, close to the centre, and with the possibility of doing almost anything you want to do. Or to just luxuriate in doing nothing.

It has taken over a year for our new dream to come to fruition, because our former dream is so enduringly enchanting. But nothing gives us greater pleasure than to offer something for sale that isn’t being discarded, but is being passed on with love.
