The houses are progressing slowly but surely. On all fronts, the project could have gone under. Building from a distance is no fun, especially not when everything has to be built to very clear specifications.
Thanks to the amazing efforts of Willem, Jean and our boys, something wonderful has been realised. The spirit of the valley, the ruins and my own spirits have remained intact to this day and are still present around the valley.
My fascination for rebuilding ruins, whereby you can build with respect for the past and feeling for the present and the future, finally has the chance to take shape. As a child, when I travelled through England with my father visiting one ruin after another, it became clear that my hunger was insatiable. My dreams are becoming a reality in the valley and I am realising what I have always wanted.
Summer, autumn or winter, it doesn’t matter; the place is always enchanting. We will soon spend the night there to experience it all. Next summer we hope to welcome our first guests
