Een tombola van verschuivingen en toevoegingen aan het RK gebouw.<\/em><\/p>\n

De komende jaren willen we een reeks van veranderingen aan ons pand – het RK gebouw te Strijp R – en het naastgelegen oude Philips perron doorvoeren.
\nHet betreft een drietal veranderingen waarvan er nog twee goedgekeurd dienen te worden:<\/p>\n

1. Trafohuisje<\/a>: in de oude traforuimtes op de hoek van de Beeldbuisring en Diodehof wordt een klein huisje gemaakt ten behoeve van artist in residence en anderszins. Hiervoor is reeds een omgevingsvergunning verleend en de bouw ervan is in volle gang.<\/p>\n

2. Het perron<\/a>: het oude perron wordt een galerie. De omgevingsvergunning hiervoor is reeds aangevraagd.<\/p>\n

3. PHE hotel<\/a>: de bovenste verdieping van de hoogbouw wordt een studio hotel met 13 kamers. Ook hier is de omgevingsvergunning voor aangevraagd.<\/p>\n

Trafohuisje<\/h2>\n

In ons oude Philips fabriekspand hebben we zes jaar geleden bij de verbouwing de oude transformator ruimtes ongemoeid gelaten. De kleine hokken waar verschillende transformatoren stonden waren voorzien van stalen roldeuren, opgetrokken van baksteen en een hoop staal. Niet echt de meest effici\u00ebnte vierkante meters om te ontginnen als je elders in het gebouw meer dan tienduizend vierkante meter bijna zonder moeite in gebruik kan nemen.<\/p>\n

We zijn nu begonnen de meest arbeidsintensieve meters tot nu toe in het pand te ontginnen om de kleinste woning van Eindhoven te maken. Of het echt de kleinste woning is weet ik niet, maar het voelt wel zo want wie woont er nu in een oude transformatorruimte?<\/p>\n

Het wordt een soort gestapelde caravan en omdat het zo klein is moet elk detail bedacht en overwogen worden, maar juist omdat het zo klein is kan dat ook. Het huisje is in zekere zin de tegenhanger van de wijdverbreide wens naar meer en groter. In plaats daarvan is het compact, wel overwogen en compleet. Met een totale vloeroppervlakte van 45m2 verspreidt over 3 verdiepingen, krijgt het trafo huisje een artist-in-residence functie als toevoeging aan ons pand.<\/p>\n

In dit toch al piepkleine huisje zijn drie trappen nodig om alle verdiepingen en het dakterras te bereiken, die op effici\u00ebnte wijze in de plattegrond zijn geplaatst. De voormalige stalen roldeuren worden vervangen door nieuwe stalen bloemramen. Deze ramen steken ongeveer 20cm buiten de buitenmuur, waardoor we net genoeg ruimte hebben voor een bankje of een schap bij de keuken voor potten en pannen. In de keuken is plek om met 4 tot 6 mensen te eten, te koken en tv te kijken. Verder zijn er 2 slaapkamers met bijbehorende badkamer, en een studieplek.<\/p>\n

Het perron<\/h2>\n

Kort nadat we meer dan zes jaar geleden ons pand kochten werden we gevraagd of we het oude perron over wilden nemen. Amvest noch de gemeente wilde het perron behouden vanwege exploitatie en onderhoudskosten en de gedachte was dat het voor ons makkelijker zou zijn hier een mouw aan te passen. Daarnaast werd de wens uitgesproken dat de nieuwe bestemming voor het perron het algemeen nut moest dienen. Er moest dus een verdienmodel bedacht worden waarmee de kosten voor verbouwing en exploitatie gedekt werden en waarmee een publiek belang werd gediend. Een dag- en nachtmuseum met daarnaast een kleine vergaderruimte biedt de oplossing. Door de langgerekte vorm van het gebouw is het eigenlijk een hele grote vitrine, centraal gelegen in het diagonaalpark van Strijp R. Zowel overdag als \u2019s avond kan je om het gebouw wandelen en de kunst bekijken. De galerie is onderdeel van ons totaal concept om het voor bezoekers nog meer de moeite waard te laten zijn ons te bezoeken. De galerie op zich heeft geen winstoogmerk. Het organiseren van exposities en het bieden van een platform aan kunstenaars heeft de afgelopen jaren heel veel geld gekost. Het gebouw zelf, de aanwezigheid van kunst en de ligging in het park zullen de verhuur mogelijkheden van de ruimte positief be\u00efnvloeden.<\/p>\n

Er komt onder het perron een kelder te liggen waarmee een \u201cwhite box\u201d galerie mogelijk wordt. De glazen puien omhelzen het oude perron alsof het een juweel is en het gebouw als geheel is als een juwelen doos voor de kunst die we er gaan presenteren.<\/p>\n

De nieuwe constructie van de glazen gevel blijft los van het bestaande gebouw, maar sluit wel naadloos aan op de oorspronkelijke ritmiek en bouwwijze. De gevel aan de kant van het restaurant (de voorkant, de zuidkant) heeft enorme glazen schuifdeuren zodat er een soort openlucht podium kan ontstaat waardoor het perron ook voor evenementen gebruikt kan worden.<\/p>\n

Op dit moment bevindt onze galerie zich op de verdiepingen van de hoogbouw in het RK. De verplaatsing van de kunst naar het perron zal de kunst een veel prominentere plek geven in het geheel (al was het maar omdat het dag en nacht zichtbaar is) en de aantrekkingskracht van onze activiteiten en het hele gebied positief be\u00efnvloeden. Het gebouwtje zelf zal door de iconische kwaliteit ervan en de culturele invulling de aantrekkingskracht van Strijp vergroten.<\/p>\n

PHE hotel<\/h2>\n

De ontwikkeling van ons bedrijf en het pand is in sterke mate gebaseerd op de gedachte dat er rond het unieke concept, van idee tot product onder \u00e9\u00e9n dak, een zo compleet mogelijke context wordt gecre\u00eberd. Onze gasten komen van over de hele wereld maar ook gewoon uit Eindhoven. Het pand als plek of locatie van activiteiten en gebeurtenissen is nu al stevig verankerd in stad en buurt. Een ontbrekende schakel in het geheel is dat onze gasten ook bij ons kunnen overnachten. Het hotelletje met de verschillend ingerichte kamers biedt niet alleen de mogelijkheid te overnachten maar is tevens een verlengstuk van de showroom waar het niet alleen om de spullen gaat maar ook om de beleving. De entree van het hotel krijgt dan ook een grote glazen pui met daarachter een lift met glazen behuizing, waardoor richting de begane grond en de tussenverdieping van de winkel en showroom gekeken kan gaan worden.<\/p>\n

Het hotel zal 13 kamers krijgen, ieder op een andere manier ingericht. Elk van de kamers zal een geheel eigen karakter krijgen binnen een totaalbeeld. De lobby en ontbijtruimte zal in de wonderkamer op de ondergelegen verdieping komen. Hierdoor wordt de samensmelting van het totaal concept nog duidelijker benadrukt. Dit wordt lobby, bar en ontbijtruimte, zoals een entree van een ouderwets hotel maar dan in een industrieel pand. Grenzend aan deze ruimte willen we op het dak een terras maken, maar ook op het hoogste dak willen we een terras realiseren. Dit dakterras is bereikbaar met de lift. De dakterrassen op verschillende niveau\u2019s, met planten en een kleine bar boven de stad cre\u00ebren een grootstedelijk gevoel.<\/p>\n

The most significant factor in Eek's career has been the creation of a world that embodies the entire process, from idea to consumer. This has proved to be an exceptional way of producing since it is quite rare to both design and produce furniture 'under the same roof' in countries with high labour costs. Each product is designed with a focus on the material, techniques and craftsmanship required to make it. In 2010, Piet Hein Eek moved his company from Geldrop to a former Philips factory in Eindhoven. The most important part of the company is the production facility (wood, metal, ceramics upholstery and cartonnage) which is located in the heart of the building. The transparency of the building gives visitors insight into the whole production process. The concept of offering a total experience starts with the showroom and the production processes but also includes a restaurant, an art gallery, rented studios, a chip shop, a hairdresser and from October 2020 there will also be a hotel. Eek has worked together with architect Iggie Dekkers since 2015, designing a range of houses and undertaking architectural redevelopments and other construction projects.
