del Mobile 2009 Milano"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>What are we showing in Milan?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>99% cabinets<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\nThe 99% cabinets are the latest and best example from a series of designs based on the philosophy of the most efficient possible use of materials and labour.\u00a0The larger cabinet, for example, entails less than 1% material wastage, including punch waste!\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The concept was so obvious and appealing that we figured someone must have already come up with it.\u00a0\u00a0But after learning that this was not the case, we quickly developed the cabinet concept further.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-25672\" src=\"https:\/\/pietheineek.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/1407-1409-975-Plaatstalen-kasten.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"645\" white aluminium, copper and brass (to produce mould).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hanging and standing necktie lamps &#8211; both large and small<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Two rings placed in the hem of a piece of fabric \u2013 it&#8217;s virtually impossible to imagine a simpler lamp design.\u00a0This together with the enormous supply of old tie fabrics found in the attic of our dealer Rossana Orlandi in Milan has resulted in these unique lamps.\u00a0Only a few lamp styles are available, but the variety of necktie fabrics is virtually endless.<\/p>\n<p>Lamps made of custom fabrics will probably be available necktie materials and metal<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dark bench<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the ruins of an old water mill where we are currently building a number of holiday homes, we found several layers of rotten doors and panel boards.\u00a0I originally planned to use these old, weather-beaten and worm-eaten pieces of wood to make benches for inside the mill.\u00a0But before making these benches, we decided out of sheer enthusiasm to make a version in dark scrap wood for our collection.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-25595\" dark scrap wood, velour and brass.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dark coffee cube<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In addition to the benches, a coffee table cube is also available.\u00a0The difference between this table cube and the other waste coffee table cubes in our collection is obvious: this cube is panelled, not stacked, and the wood used is thinner, creating a more sophisticated and stylish mediocre designs sold for as much money as possible under the guise of uniqueness, I decided during the 2008 Salone that I would present inexpensive, high-quality and unusual products the following year. <\/p>\n<p>The previous year I had been asked to design the interior for the cultural centre in Edam, my hometown.\u00a0Since the budget was insufficient, I proposed to provide a design that they could then use to produce the pieces themselves, together with students and volunteers.\u00a0The design was therefore limited to the drawings and instructions on how to make the pieces.\u00a0I really liked the concept of making your ideas available to others in this way and so I translated it into a do-it-yourself construction drawing for products.\u00a0\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\nUnfortunately, it proved difficult to carry out my idea to have the chair made on various continents and then offered at as low a price as possible.\u00a0Our supplier in Indonesia was the only one able to produce and deliver the chair.\u00a0The intended diversity was therefore not possible, but we\u2019ve managed to expand the range of options to include a handmade scrap wood chair from the Netherlands and one from Indonesia made of Indonesian scrap wood, mostly hardwood.\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\nNaturally you can always opt for the do-it-yourself kit and build your own chair!<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" every so often you would find yourself actually trying to get the pucks into the scoring boxes.\u00a0With this shuffleboard table, literally everything is illuminated and the pucks are of official process.\u00a0But, oddly enough, we managed to succeed with the black version!\u00a0This in turn gave us the confidence \u2013 after dozens of failed attempts \u2013 to resolve the problem with the name=\"description\" content=\"Piet Hein Eek (1967) graduated from the Design Academy in Eindhoven (NL) in 1990 with his classic scrap wood cupboard. The most significant factor in Eek&#039;s career has been the creation of a world that embodies the entire process, from idea to consumer. This has proved to be an exceptional way of producing since it is quite rare to both design and produce furniture &#039;under the same roof&#039; in countries with high labour costs. Each product is designed with a focus on the material, techniques and craftsmanship required to make it. In 2010, Piet Hein Eek moved his company from Geldrop to a former Philips factory in Eindhoven. The most important part of the company is the production facility (wood, metal, ceramics upholstery and cartonnage) which is located in the heart of the building. The transparency of the building gives visitors insight into the whole production process. The concept of offering a total experience starts with the showroom and the production processes but also includes a restaurant, an art gallery, rented studios, a chip shop, a hairdresser and from October 2020 there will also be a hotel. Eek has worked together with architect Iggie Dekkers since 2015, designing a range of houses and undertaking architectural redevelopments and other construction projects.
