We were approached by Terts Brinkhof, Director of the \u201cde Parade\u201d travelling theatre festival, with the question of whether we could construct such a structure. The challenge excited us, but the deadline was less than ideal. The goal was to create a smaller, 24-metre long version, for the Oerol Festival and to have the larger version sent to Governors Island in New York, to serve as the nucleus of the \u201cNew Island\u201d theatre festival.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the short deadline, we decided to supply the wood, prototype and, naturally, the design. The Oerol version was a success, with people sitting, dancing and eating on and at one big table. Eek has worked together with architect Iggie Dekkers since 2015, designing a range of houses and undertaking architectural redevelopments and other construction projects.
