DESCRIPTION:We close the Storioni Festival at Piet Hein Eek in the evening with a final concert in the workshop. This concert is based on Picasso and Parisian musicians of his time. \n“The late evening concert begins with music from Igor Stravinsky’s neo-classical ballet Pulcinella\, a beautiful blend of graceful melodies by Pergolesi mixed with Stravinsky’s spicy flavour. Followed by songs by Paul Dessau\, a composer who is far too rarely heard. He emigrated to the US because of the Nazi regime\, but later became one of the GDR’s most important composers\, alongside Kurt Weill. Then one of those wonderful world-famous piano pieces by the French satirist Érik Satie\, Gymnopédies\, which would evoke visions of naked boy dancers in silhouettes on a Greek vase. Next\, a sad tribute to a deceased singer by Francis Poulenc\, his Élégie\, moving in its simplicity\, and full of hope and resignation. DESCRIPTION:The Storioni Festival continues in the evening in our workshop. With Piet & Picasso in Spain\, the Storioni Festival is set in Spanish atmospheres. \n“The concert opens with the famous 1914 Siete Canciones populares españolas (Seven Spanish Folk Songs) by Spanish composer Manuel de Falla. He described the consideration that guided him in composing as follows: ‘In my humble opinion\, in a folk song\, the spirit is more important than the letter. Rhythm\, key and melodic intervals are the main thing. The people confirm this by constantly varying the melodic line.’ Following this was one of the favourite encores among cellists\, Requiebros by the great Spanish cellist Gaspar Cassadó and dedicated to his famous fellow cellist Pablo Casals. The Spanish title means as much as ‘compliments’. Echoes of Andalusian gypsy music and flamenco guitar music resound in Joaquín Turina’s beautiful Piano Quartet. The originally Catalan song El Cant dels Ocells (The Song of the Birds) was adapted for cello by Pablo Casals. In protest against the Franco regime\, he opened every concert with this moving song. Today you will hear this ‘song of the birds’ in a special arrangement for piano trio and overtone singer! The concert closes with parts from Manuel de Falla’s El amor brujo (Love and Witchcraft)\, a macabre love story of a gypsy girl.” \nAfter this concert\, the ‘Storioni Café’ will take place in our Grand Café. SUMMARY:Storioni Festival at Piet Hein Eek
DESCRIPTION:On Friday June 3 the musical Storioni Festival returns to Piet Hein Eek! Last year we welcomed them to our workshop. This year we are kicking off with a surprise concert of personal favourites of the musicians\, in the street of Piet Hein Eek at 17.00 hrs. You can enjoy a delicious fries from Friet van Piet Hein Eek. Alternatively\, you can attend only the evening concerts and dine first in the Lobby Restaurant from our menu. Make a reservation so you can be sure of a table!  \n“After dining\, we will first hear music by English composer Frank Bridge and Hungarian-British late romanticist Emánuel Moór\, then Beethoven’s heroic and revolutionary Third Symphony ‘Eroica’ here in a version for piano quartet. After an intermission in which various spaces within Piet Hein Eek’s complex can be admired\, you will hear music by the Finn Sebastian Fagerlund and the wonderful sextet from Richard Strauss’ opera Capriccio. To conclude\, you can listen to the Clarinettrio ‘pathétique’ by Michael Glinka\, the prophet of Russian music. On the back of the trio Glinka wrote “I have come to know love only through the pain it brings. For this work\, Italian pianist Saskia Giorgini takes to the grand piano\, winner of the 2016 Salzburg International Mozart Competition.”  \nRepertoire:\nFrank Bridge – Divertimenti for wind quartet H.189\, no.1-4\nEmánuel Moór – Prelude for cello and piano op.123\nLudwig van Beethoven – Symphony No.3 in E-flat\, op.55\, ‘Eroica’ for piano quartet\nSebastian Fagerlund – ‘Transient Light’ for horn\, violin\, cello and piano\nRichard Strauss – ‘Capriccio’ op.85 for string sextet\nMikhail Glinka – ‘Trio Pathétique’ in d flat\, for clarinet\, cello and piano \nWant to make the Storioni Festival experience complete? DESCRIPTION:After the absence of international design events\, more than 20 Eindhoven designers and Design Studios – including Piet Hein Eek – have joined forces to collectively present new works. \nThe aim of #Design Open is to offer buyers\, interior designers and architects\, museums or galleries\, media and collectors\, the first opportunity to experience new design productions in an intimate\, work-in-progress and surprising way. \nThis creative community intents to come together for the sake of design and to connect their professional networks by sharing a date\, opening hours and online map. \nTo encourage and support the young generation\, new works by recent Graduates of Design Academy Eindhoven will be on display at several locations. \nHow does it work? \nCheck the online map on www.designopen.nl to simply see the Open Studios and create your own route! DESCRIPTION:We are organizing the Designer Exhibitions at Piet Hein Eek again during Dutch Design Week 2022. Do you want to exhibit at our place? Don’t wait too long and send your preference by e-mail before June 30\, 2022: claudia@pietheineek.nl. Please consider the following before signing up for the selection procedure: \n\nWe offer the following\n \n\nThe event space will probably be renovated before the Dutch Design Week. The exact floor plan will be announced later\, the square meters below are the same as last year: \n\n\n– Exhibition units from 4 to 20 m2 in the event space\n– One large exhibition space in the office space\n– One large space in the showroom\n– One large space in the workshop\n– Places outside and around the building \n\n\nThe office\, showroom and workshop areas are located at the main entrance and are fully visible through large windows. It is also possible to have an exhibition space outside and/or around the Piet Hein Eek building or a small presentation near a wall. As in previous years\, access to the building is free. Visitors should be able to be informed as well as possible.\n– All participants are required to sign up at the Dutch Design Week organization\, in order to gain more visibility. The call for entries at the DDW organization runs until June 30\, 2022. \nSelection procedure\nWe will study each application and make a selection from the submissions we receive. We will select on creativity and originality and we prefer designers who make and sell their product themselves\, because it fits within our own concept. We will do our very best to let you know as soon as possible if you have been selected to participate. When you have registered and the application has been approved\, you will receive\, in addition to an official confirmation\, more detailed information regarding participation at Piet Hein Eek during the Dutch Design Week. \nPrices\nA rate of €100.00 per m2 applies for the event space (excluding 21% VAT). If you reserve a unit before July 1\, and have paid 50% of the payment\, you will receive a discount of €5.00 per m2 (excluding 21% VAT). Full payment must be made no later than September 30\, 2022. DESCRIPTION:We will donate the weekend revenue of the Lobby Restaurant and FRIET from March 26-27 to The Shelter Project. A project about the current and future needs and resources in Ukraine\, organized by the Ukrainian aid organization East Europe Foundation. In collaboration with the Dutch organization Samen voor Eindhoven\, we ensure that 100% of the revenue end up locally in Ukraine. DESCRIPTION:After a completely virtual edition in 2020\, this year we are aiming at a physical Dutch Design Week! If you would like to exhibit at our place\, please do not wait too long and send an email to Pim Hoff: pim@pietheineek.nl\, preferably before the 30th of June. \nPlease consider the following before signing up for the selection procedure (please note: there are some changes compared to last year): \nWe offer the following: \nExhibition units from 4  to 20 square meters (or a multiplicity of this amount) in the events space and two large exhibition spaces of 75 square meters in the office space and 50 square meters in the workshop respectively. Both spaces are located next to the main entrance and fully visible through large windows. For more information and the prices of these rooms\, please contact Pim Hoff directly. \nIt is also possible to create an exhibition space outside our premises and/or around the property of Piet Hein Eek.
