Piet Hein Eek designs for Karmo

29-03-2016

We have always exercised a degree of restraint when it comes to accepting design assignments from manufacturers. This one, however, was very attractive. A company with a rich tradition that has been producing for decades, that has the will and necessity to develop new activities, and close-by too!

It is not a company for which designers are waiting in line to sell their designs. On the contrary – massive oaks as we see in adverts. But it is a company for which you will wait in line if you love wood, from production to production processes.

Two collections have been released: one with turned legs and styles that hark back to the first models that were made, and the other very straight forward, simply smooth or rough as you would expect from us.

All in all, a project we are proud of because the furniture builds a fitting bridge between the traditional furniture industry and the contemporary design crazy. Also proud because I was asked for it. The furniture can be seen in our showroom in Geldrop during the month of December and will be available for sale from January.

Unfortunately we must inform you that Karmo was declared bankrupt on 15 March. We are still researching whether the collection can be introduced to the market in another way.
